Caitlin Smith- SAOM- June

Caitlin Smith is a freshman at Churchill Fulshear High School in Fulshear, Texas. She is the starting varsity pitcher for the Chargers and led them in their inaugural varsity season this year. She was recently awarded the Fulshear Softball Defensive Player of the Year – a great honor to receive as a freshman. When she is not pitching for Fulshear, Caitlin plays outfield and 2nd base for the Houston Power 16U team.

Caitlin has been very successful in numerous other sports including cross country, volleyball, basketball and track. Besides being a standout athlete at Fulshear, Caitlin also excels not only in softball but in her academic pursuits, as well. She currently has a 4.0 GPA in all Pre-AP classes. When Caitlin is not leading her team in softball she is a member of the Fulshear FFA and the National Charity League. Caitlin is the Communications Officer on the leadership board of the NCL Brazos Belles chapter. She enjoys volunteering in various ways both at her school and in her community. Some of her volunteer works include helping at the Houston Food Bank, Lunches of Love, League of Dreams and at Wertheimer Middle School. Caitlin also had the opportunity to work with the Red Cross during Hurricane Harvey.

In the Fall of 2021, Caitlin will attend college and hopes to continue her softball career at the collegiate level. Although she has not yet chosen where she will attend college, she has been in contact with several prospective colleges for both academics and softball. She is interested in the sports medicine field as well as dentistry/orthodontics as possible future career paths.

Caitlin attributes her faith in God and support of her family as the keys to her success both on and off the softball field. She wants to thank her parents, Tiffani and David, for all their love, support and guidance they give her each and every day. She also wants to thank her grandparents Brad and Judy Smith and Jack and Estelle Hudson. They are some of her biggest supporters and cheerleaders. Since starting softball at the age of 6, Caitlin has been blessed with many terrific coaches and teachers. She wants to thank them all, including her Fulshear coaches: Micah Bumstead and Lisa Slavinski. Caitlin would also like to thank her Houston Power Coach Christy Connors and pitching coach Bruce Middleton. These coaches have inspired Caitlin to work hard and always do her very best!
