June 2017- Griffin Hattingh

Griffin Hattingh is a recent graduate from Clements HS in Sugar Land, TX where he was a left-handed starting Varsity pitcher. His fast ball pitching stats sit anywhere from 86-90mph while topping out at 92mph. He has played on Varsity for three years with Head Coach Israel De Los Santos.

From the beginning, Griffin knew that academics came first, and he worked hard to maintain his 3.6 GPA. His studies and hard work soon paid off, and he received Academic All District and Second Team All District twice. He has been awarded the 2017 Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American Award, and a part of the Texas All-Region 2nd Team. Most recently, Griffin was selected to play on the 2017 Houston Area All Star team by the Houston Area Baseball Association.

Griffin began playing baseball at First Colony Little League when he was four years old. He knew right away he wanted to be a pitcher, and never waivered from that goal. During his childhood Griffin worked with numerous coaches. He was soon introduced to Pedro Borbon, who ended up becoming his pitching coach for the next 10 years.

It hasn’t always been an easy road for Griffin, but he never gave up on his dream of playing college baseball. He will be continuing his baseball career at the University of Houston, while working towards his degree in Business. GO COOGS!!
