April 2017 – Tessa Cantrell

Tessa Cantrell- SAOM- April

 

Tessa Cantrell is a junior at Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugar Land.  She is the starting pitcher for the Eagles and led them to their 5th state championship win as a sophomore.  Tessa started on the varsity softball team as a freshman and has lettered each year.  She also went to the TAPPS State Championship in swimming, lettering in this sport as well.  She hopes to lead her team to another TAPPS State Championship win in softball this year.   Her many awards include being named a TAPPS Scholar Athlete, TAPPS All-State Tournament Team, TAPPS All-District Player, TAPPS All-State 2nd Team.  Tessa stats have her pitching 2 strikeouts per inning, and she recently hit her first homerun of the season.   She was featured for her talent on and off the field on KPRC Channel 2 Houston as their Athlete of the Week, and in Houston’s VYPE Magazine.

 

Tessa is an ace in the circle, and she is a leader in the classroom as well.  She recently scored in the 99th percentile on her ACT and has a 5.56 GPA and is taking all AP and honors courses.  Tessa is passionate about art and photography and is currently taking honors art courses at FBCA. She is a member of National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Student Council, and Mu Alpha Theta.  She believes strongly in helping her community and has been on several mission trips around the country and world helping the most underserved communities.  She also is a volunteer with the Houston SPCA, and gives her time to help abused and neglected animals.

 

Tessa loves math and science and plans to study engineering in college, and she would also like to pursue her passion in art.  She would like to continue her career in softball at the college level, and she hopes to attend a university that will challenge her academically as well as athletically.  She wants to thank her mother, Jenny, her father, Sean, and her brother, Gunnar, for all the love, support, and guidance they provide to her on a daily basis. She is also blessed to have Kelly Carroll and Kelli Jacoby as her softball coaches.  They inspire her to be the best she can be, and their passion has motivated Tessa to strive for excellence in everything she does.
