June 2016- Jacob Weber

Jacob Weber is a 2016 graduate from Kempner High School in Sugar Land, TX. Standing at 5’ 9” and weighing 160 pounds, he helped lead both the Kempner Men’s Swim Team and Baseball team to some of the most successful seasons in Kempner’s program history.

A four year letterman, Jacob, who served as team captain during his senior year, lead the Men’s swim team to their most successful season, finishing with a duel record of 11-2. During Jacob’s four years on the team he steadily improved his times, abilities and skill range through hard work and the support of his coaches, Katie Anselmo and assistant Jerome Muniz. In his senior year, he managed to advance to regionals in all four events (relays and individuals) making him not only a four-year letterman, but also a four-year regional qualifier.

On the baseball field Jacob served as a two year letterman for the Kempner Cougars, starting in a variation of positions from second, third, and even outfield. Playing a more supportive role his junior year, Jacob took every opportunity to show his skills his senior year. Jacob finished the district season batting .500 and being selected as the 2016 District23-6A 1st Team All-District Utility player. The Cougars Baseball program also had a very successful season falling short only to Deer Park in the 3rd round of playoffs, a team success he attributes to the coaching and leadership of Coaches Marc Jones and Eric Folkerts.

Even while participating in two year-round sports, being named 2016 Cougar Male Athlete of the Year by coaches of all sports, Jacob maintained education as his priority and graduated Magna Cum Laude in May.

Jacob plans to continue his education at the University of Texas in Austin and study Chemical Engineering.  Jacob fully enjoyed his time at Kempner and sends his thanks to his coaches and administrators for their guidance and support both on and off the field through all four years of high school.
