July 2016- Luke Metzer

Luke Metzer is an incoming senior at Dulles High School in Sugar Land. He is a three-year letterman in baseball, football and choir.

Standing at 6’ 4”, Luke currently serves as the pitcher for the Dulles varsity baseball team and the quarterback for the varsity football team. Luke’s efforts on the field are far from unrecognized. This past year Luke was named the Star Furniture Player of the week on KHOU for football, as well as the FOX 26 Greater Houston Honda Player of the Week (after passing for eight touchdowns in one game) and was chosen for the UIL District 23-6A All-district football team.

Luke’s skills extend far beyond the field. He is a member of the Thespian Honor Society at Dulles and played the lead in the high school’s production of “High School Musical” last January. Academically, he was named All District, was one of twelve finalists for the Posse Foundation Scholarship, and participated in this year’s Leadership 101 class with 32 other students chosen from across Fort Bend Independent School District. To top it all off, Luke was the volunteer coach for the Jr’s team at the Dulles HS Vikings 2016 JR/SR Powder Puff Game.

After senior year, Luke aspires to continue his athletic career in college. He is very thankful for his Coach Mike Weatherly for the opportunity to receive this award and helping him become the player he is today.  There is no way he would be where he is today without his coach.
