June 2015- Raphael Chaumette

Raphael ‘Rafe’ Chaumette is a 6’ 1”, left handed outfielder and relief pitcher for the varsity baseball team at Clements High School in Sugar Land. He just completed his junior year with a batting average of .308 in the regular season and .600 in the playoffs for the Rangers.

Rafe has played on several select Baseball teams throughout his childhood. He has played in tournaments in numerous states including Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, and California. This summer, he is playing with the Banditos Baseball Club and they will travel to Georgia and Florida. He was also selected to take part in the Houston Area Code Baseball Event that will be held later this month.

Rafe’s activities extend far beyond the baseball diamond. Academically, he balances his class schedule with several AP and college level courses, including American History and English, and is a member of the National Honor Society.

In addition, he participated in this year’s Leadership 101 class with 32 other students chosen from across Fort Bend Independent School District. Rafe continued that leadership journey, representing the District and Fort Bend County as part of a delegation that visited Foshan, China for three weeks in January 2015. Closer to home, Raphael is also part of the Sugar Land Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council and the Houston Food Bank Local Youth Advisory Board.

Rafael is excited for his senior year at Clements and can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.
